The Carignan-Salières Regiment
New France was in turmoil with Iroquois attacks.
The settlers were in danger. King Louis XIV sent the Carignan-Salières
to Quebec to protect it. The first regular French troops arrived in 1665.
Between June and September 1665 about 1200 soldiers and officers arrived in Quebec. They were with Lt. General Alexander de Prouville, Sieur de Tracy. It had been the wish of King Louis XIV to have some of them stay in Canada. Over 450 of them did and many married the Filles du Roi who had arrived.
To this point I have identified 3 soldiers who are directly in the Hardy line. Click on the individuals to see what is known about them.
